Thirty days is enough time to pass the Salesforce Administrator exam — if the time goes where the exam outline says it should. Most failed first attempts share the same shape: weeks spent re-watching videos on topics the candidate already understood, no practice under time pressure until the final weekend, and a first mock score that arrives too late to act on.
This plan inverts that. It's built directly on the current ADM-201 exam outline — the one updated in December 2025, which trimmed legacy automation, tightened the question count, and added AI and Agentforce fundamentals — and it front-loads measurement so you always know which sections are safe and which are bleeding points.

Two sections — Configuration & Setup and Object Manager — are 30% of the exam between them, and Data & Analytics at 17% is now the single heaviest section. That should control your calendar, and in this plan it does.

Before day 1: two ground rules
Study the current outline, not the internet's memory of it. The December 2025 revision matters in two directions: automation questions are now Flow-only (time spent mastering Workflow Rules and Process Builder is time donated to history), and AI/Agentforce fundamentals now appear in scenario questions. Material that predates the revision will happily teach you the wrong exam.
Get a Trailhead Playground or Developer Edition org on day 1. Reading about record types is not the same as building one. Every day below assumes 15 of your minutes happen inside an org, clicking the thing you just studied.
Week 1 — The 30% foundation: Configuration & Setup + Object Manager
Daily commitment all month: 60–90 minutes. Weekdays can be 60; weekends stretch to 90.
- Days 1–2: Org setup — company settings, user management, profiles vs permission sets (and permission set groups, which the exam now prefers as the answer to most access-design questions), login and session security.
- Day 3: baseline mock. Yes, already. Take a full-length timed practice exam cold. The score doesn't matter — a 45% is normal and useful. What matters is the per-section readout: it converts the next 27 days from guesswork into a targeting exercise. Write down your three weakest sections.
- Days 4–5: Data access model — org-wide defaults, role hierarchy, sharing rules, manual sharing. Draw the layered diagram from memory until you can.
- Days 6–7: Object Manager — standard vs custom objects, fields and field types, record types with page layouts, relationship types (lookup vs master-detail, and what each does to security and roll-ups), Lightning App Builder pages, dynamic forms.
Week 2 — The engine room: Automation + Data & Analytics (32%, the heaviest block on the exam)
- Days 8–10: Flow, Flow, Flow. Record-triggered flows (before-save vs after-save and when each is correct), screen flows, scheduled flows, flow debugging. Build at least two record-triggered flows in your org. The exam's automation scenarios almost always hinge on choosing the right automation for the requirement — practice that judgment, not just clicking.
- Day 11: Approval processes, then Agentforce AI — now its own dedicated 8% section, or roughly five questions: agent types, actions built from flows and prompt templates, and where Einstein features fit into an admin's toolkit.
- Days 12–13: Data management — import wizard vs Data Loader (know the limits and which handles what), duplicate and matching rules, data validation, backup and export.
- Day 14: Reports and dashboards — report types (the #1 trap topic in this section: what a report type does and doesn't expose), report formats, dashboard components, and sharing/scheduling behavior.
Week 3 — The applications trio (30%)
- Days 15–16: Sales applications — lead lifecycle and conversion (what maps where), opportunity stages and path, products and price books at concept level, campaigns and campaign influence basics.
- Day 17: second mock, full length, timed. Compare per-section against day 3. Sections that moved up: maintenance mode. Sections that didn't: they own days 18–19's margin time.
- Day 18: Service applications — case lifecycle, queues and assignment rules, escalation rules, Web-to-Case and Email-to-Case, knowledge basics.
- Day 19: Productivity & Collaboration — activities, Chatter, Salesforce mobile capabilities, AppExchange judgment questions ("should the admin build or install?").
- Days 20–21: Weak-section surgery. Whatever your day-17 breakdown flagged, these two days belong to it. If nothing is critically weak, deepen Data & Analytics and the configuration core — the exam rewards depth exactly where it weights heaviest.
Week 4 — Simulation and triage
- Days 22–23: Review pass over notes; rebuild anything in your org you only read about.
- Day 24: third mock. You want to see 70%+ here — comfortably above the 65% line, because exam-day nerves are worth a few points. Below 65%? The remaining days go entirely to your two weakest sections, and consider whether your booked date needs moving — a $100 retake fee is a strong argument for honesty with yourself.
- Days 25–26: Final weak-section drilling, focused on why wrong answers are wrong — the skill that separates recognizing material from passing exams.
- Day 27: final full simulation under strict conditions: 105 minutes, no pauses, flag-and-return discipline (first pass answers everything answerable in under 90 seconds; second pass spends the banked time on flagged questions).
- Days 28–29: Light review only. Re-read your error log, not new material. Sleep.
- Day 30: exam day. Pace check at question 30: you should have ~55 minutes left. Multi-select questions tell you how many answers to pick — trust the count.
Three traps that fail prepared candidates
Studying stale automation. If your practice material's automation answers include Workflow Rules or Process Builder as correct choices, the material predates the current exam. Flow is the answer now; the others appear only as things to migrate away from.
Memorizing answers instead of patterns. Question banks circulating as "real exam dumps" decay fast and teach recall, not judgment — and the exam's scenario style punishes pure recall. Practice questions earn their keep only when each one teaches why the right answer wins.
Skipping timed practice. The most common exam-day failure isn't knowledge — it's arriving at question 45 with twelve minutes left. Every full mock in this plan is timed for that reason; the pacing skill is trained, not innate.
